Now we can feel a little special!

Yesterday, we received an e-mail notification outlining our acceptance into the Halo 3 multiplayer beta program which will likely kick off some time in March 2007.
Only one of our registered Xbox Live gamertags was lucky enough to make it through all of the requirements for the “Rule of Three” contest. We’ll have to resort to the third and final method to get more of our accounts into the Beta program which means that there will be at least one or more copies of Crackdown obtained by our staff when it drops next week on February 20th.
Oddly enough, Bungie chose the account that we’ve had online since Xbox Live was in its own beta testing phase (oh, how we miss our Xbox forum beta ball).
You can read a copy of the details of the acceptance e-mail below:
Congratulations [GamerTag],
You were one of the first 13,333 gamers to meet the “Rule of Three” program eligibility requirements. As a result, you have been selected to participate in the Halo® 3 beta.
In order to participate, you must have access to:
• An Xbox 360â„¢ Pro console or Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive
• A valid Xbox Live® Gold subscriptionKeep an eye on your inbox, we will be sending more information about this opportunity soon.
We can’t stress enough how exciting it is to be able to get a hands-on feel and glimpse of how the first “next-generation” Halo game is going to look and play.
I’ve been a fan of the series since Combat Evolved and I can even remember the first day we all sat down to try out the game on the fledgling Xbox console and how most of us became instantly addicted to the multiplayer even though we weren’t really into video games at the time.
The release of Halo 2’s multiplayer came with mixed feelings… some loved it… others shunned it because of the disappearance of the almighty pistol. However, there’s no question of its important role in making Xbox Live the success it is today (even we have multiple ‘Gold’ accounts just to play Halo 2 online).
With that in mind, we look forward to keeping our readers updated with daily details on the multiplayer beta as soon as it hits our Xbox 360 hard drives. We’re hoping that once the expanded beta program starts there won’t be a gag order on participants sharing info and photos.
So check back soon to learn more.
