Sania Mirza has defeated the crowd favorite Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 at the Pattaya open.
It wasn’t a pretty match, but Mirza got the job done and will advance to play in the quarterfinals against Mara Santangelo of Italy on Friday.
Peng Shuai of China and Sybille Bammer of Austria also made it into the next round yesterday.
