Gaming News, Rumors, and Videos

Now we can feel a little special!

Only one of our registered Xbox Live gamertags was lucky enough to make it through all of the requirements for the "Rule of Three" contest. We'll have to resort to the third and final method to get more of our accounts into the Beta program which means that there will be at least one or more copies of Crackdown obtained by our staff when it drops next week on February 20th.

New Mass Effect screenshots online

Bioware just released some new screenshots of their upcoming Xbox 360 game, Mass Effect. The game adds to the growing list of next generation games relying on Epic's Unreal Engine 3 to deliver stunning graphics and innovative game presentation. From these new screenshots, we can see more into what Bioware is going to deliver graphically.

Blu-ray outselling HD-DVDs in 2007

Joystiq.com has an interesting article directed towards the recent Nielsen VideoScan sales figures in which Blu-ray movies outsold HD-DVDs over 2 to 1. Have you had the chance to watch any Blu-ray or HD-DVD movies? Do you prefer to use Xbox Live's video marketplace for your high-def experience?

Conan and Serena in a Wii battle

We ran into a hilarious YouTube video posted on tehWii.com's blog site today. The highlight of the whole video has to be Conan's outfit. Are you a Late Night with Conan O'brien fan? Have you had the chance to play tennis on the Nintendo Wii with their revolutionary controller yet?

Saint's Row heading to the PS3

PS3Fanboy.com is reporting that Saint's Row will be heading to the Playstation 3 console this year after a successful run as one of the highlights of last year's Xbox 360 game lineup. The proposed new additions in the PS3 version should make for an even better experience until Saint's Row II pops up.

Mass Effect quite possibly dated

We don't know if it's an accident or misprint but it's worth noting that a release date has been posted for Bioware's Mass Effect on the Australian Xbox website. According to the site, Mass Effect will be available on May 18, 2007. Are you anxiously awaiting this all new RPG adventure from Bioware? Do you think that Mass Effect is the best use of the Unreal Engine 3 to date?

Even cats like the Nintendo DS!

Yeah, we all know that Nintendo's DS Lite prints money over in Japan but here's where it takes the cake -- even Japanese cats can't resist the chance to play! It seems that Nintendo can't miss with the DS or the Wii, but am I only the only one that thinks that the cat's eyes are very reminiscent of Shrek 2's Puss-in-Boots character?

Gears of War free theme and maps available

Epic released a free theme and map pack for their blockbuster Gears of War onto XBLM today. The free content is being sponsored by the Discovery Channel. I've yet to try the online multiplayer of Gears simply because none of my close friends have a Xbox 360 yet. However, I will say that the single player is a fantastic ride and a graphical masterpiece.

Will Wii win with gamers in Japan?

Let's try saying that headline five times fast. JC Barnett, a video game artist/developer living in Japan, ponders this question in the Japanmanship blog. Whereas Sony and the unlucky but plucky Microsoft are pushing power over anything else, Nintendo has wisely focused on the products, the products that will sell the console.
